I was the most immediately vocal. After we did a site visit
of the hotel, we were told that press kits were left in our room. When I got to
my room, there was nothing to be found. I then went to the press reps room for
an interview, and saw that she had received fruit and pastries along with her
press kit. So I was slighted.
When we left for a short outing, I saw that the press kit
was there along with fruit but no pastries. Again I left the room, and there
were the pastries. Along with a dirty rag on my dresser—gross!!!
The pastries were left after I told the maid that I didn’t
want turn down service which seemed to indicate that I didn’t want anyone in my
room.
The others received their fruit pastries in varying
degrees—but no press kit. Ultimately we received another set placed on our bed
at the request of our Tourism Office guide.
But what pissed my colleagues off was that they kept on
being disturbed during the afternoon. They were trying to take a nap but
various members of the housekeeping team kept entering their room. Most Macau
hotels have a modern ‘Do Not Disturb’ button but you have to take the time to
figure out how to use it. One of my colleagues was disturbed three times in an
hour.
